Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane insists goalkeeper Keylor Navas has his full support despite an error-strewn display in their 2-1 victory over Real Betis
Madrid: Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane insists goalkeeper Keylor Navas has his full support despite an error-strewn display in their 2-1 victory over Real Betis.
Madrid moved back to the top of La Liga after Sergio Ramos' late winner earned them a comeback victory against 10-man Betis at the Bernabeu. They are now two points clear of Barcelona, but had trailed Betis following a howler by Navas in the first half. Cristiano Ronaldo equalised in the 41st minute before Ramos scored a bullet header from a corner nine minutes from time - moments after Betis defender Cristiano Piccini was shown a second yellow card for his foul on Lucas Vazquez.
Navas gifted Betis the opener when Antonio Sanabria shot from distance but the Real 'keeper failed to deal with his effort before spilling the ball over the line.
"At the interval I didn't say anything to him," Zidane said. "It is part of the game, he can make a mistake like everyone else. At the end, he saved the game for us and I, like all of the players, are still in support of Keylor. I didn't see the replays (for Navas' potential red card), I can't say anything about it," Zidane added.
