Top 4 Teams look to consolidate as they play teams outside Top 10
The top 4 teams of the table will face much easier draw this weekend in LaLiga as they face teams who are not in the top half. All of these teams will look to consolidate their positons and would not like to drop points. Though comparatively the games are easy but there is no room for complacency at this level. The bottom rung teams have got nothing to lose and any points would be a bonus for them. They could be party spoilers for the table toppers.
Defending champions Real Madrid slipping away
Los Blancos are finding this season extremely difficult as they are 19 points away from the leader. LaLiga crown seems to be a distant reality for the current champions. The most disturbing part is their form in the home matches, once considered as their fortress which was difficult to breach, now they have just won 6 out of 11 this season. Their strikers have not delivered the way they have done in the last season. Though their UCL berth has been confirmed for the next season but anything away from the top four will be a matter of disappointment for Zizou's boys.
Barca remains the team to beat this season
The Catalans have been in red hot form this season. They have not yet lost a single game this season, missing just eight points out of the possible 66. Their home record has been impeccable, winning 90% of the games that too with authority, scoring 3.1 goals per match. The only possible reason for Barca not to win LaLiga would be their complacency and surely Ernesto Valverde will not let that happen.
Atletico aims for title whereas Valencia look to book UCL berth
Atletico looks like the only team which can challenge the table toppers Barcelona as they are just 9 points adrift from the leaders. Though they have Malaga as their opponent who is reeling at the bottom of the table, they would require wins to consolidate their position. Valencia on the other hand is on third position with 40 points but there are 3-4 teams on their heels to grab the coveted champions league spot. They also face a relegation threatened team for their next match. Levante can be a tricky customer as they just made the champions Madrid drop two points in the last match.
