Neymar is set to miss up to two months with a fractured metatarsal and sprained ankle, according to his father. Neymar senior believes the world's most expensive footballer will not be fit to face Real Madrid in the Champions League next Tuesday. The Brazilian, 26, was carried off nine minutes from the end of his side's 3-0 win over Marseille on Sunday, and his father insists it could be eight weeks before he plays again.

"His treatment will last six to eight weeks, whether there is an operation or not," he told ESPN FC. PSG coach Unai Emery, however, insists Neymar has a chance of playing against the holders next week. Emery insists Neymar is focused on helping the French side overcome a 3-1 first leg deficit to reach the Champions League quarter-finals. "Neymar wants to play every game - he's focused on Real," Emery said. "We have to be patient. I think there's a small chance that he'll be ready for the match."

Meanwhile, Brazil's national team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar has travelled to France to assess Neymar's foot injury. Lasmar denied media reports that said the striker was seeking surgery to avoid complications during the World Cup. "There has been no decision about the treatment," Lasmar said. "That will be taken on Wednesday after I meet with the PSG doctor."
