David Beckham: I'm saving to spend on my family

England football great David Beckham is among the world's richest players, but it looks like he still keeps a close eye on his bank balance. Beckham revealed that he saves pennies to spend on his family.

"We used to be very extravagant in what we'd buy each other. But we're obviously saving the pennies now because we have so many children to be extravagant with," Beckham, 42, told ES Magazine yesterday.

The ex-Man United star, whose assets amount to a whopping £339 million, said he and wife Victoria are more content to live a simple life. "It's more about spending time together and going for a simple dinner," he added.
