Sven Ulreich
Record German football champions Bayern Munich and goalkeeper Sven Ulreich have agreed on a contract extension until June 2021.
The 29-year-old back-up goalkeeper, who joined Bayern from Stuttgart in 2015, has penned a new three-year deal, the Bavarian giants announced on Sunday, reports Xinhua.
"The past three years have shown that we can always rely on Sven Ulreich. Especially this season, he has played a significant role. We are leading the Bundesliga and still have good chances to progress in the Champions League and German Cup," Bayern's sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic said on the club's official homepage.
Ulreich has made 17 Bundesliga appearances between the posts so far as starting goalkeeper. German international Manuel Neuer has been sidelined since September 2017 with a metatarsal fracture.
"I am very happy that Bayern will continue to rely on me in the future, giving me the trust to reach the club's goals in the next few years. Besides, my family and I feel very happy in Munich," Ulreich said.
Bayern currently sit atop the Bundesliga standings with an 18-point advantage ahead of their closest rivals Leipzig.
Bayern will on Tuesday meet Turkish club Besiktas in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League pre-quarterfinals.
