Kohli, in a candid interview, had expressed the profound impact wife Anushka has had on his life, emphasizing her unwavering support. He attributed her 'lucky' presence as a pivotal factor behind the positive changes he has undergone both on and off the field.

Anushka had penned a heartfelt note for Kohli after he stepped down as Test captain of the Indian cricket team. The 35-year-old had quit captaincy a day after India failed to clinch their first ever Test series win in South Africa despite winning the opening match in 2022. “I remember the day in 2014 when you told me that you have been made the captain as MS had decided to retire from Test cricket. I remember MS, you & I having a chat later that day & him joking about how quickly your beard will start turning grey. We all had a good laugh about it," she wrote.

In 2016, when the now-married couple's break-up rumours were all over the internet, fans trolled Anushka after India’s spectacular win over Australia. Some fans even said that the break-up was the reason behind India’s victory. It was Kohli who had stepped up and silenced the trollers by sharing a strong message on Twitter, adding that it is she who has only given him positivity.

India's Test captain Virat Kohli never hekd himself from lashing out at critics, who blamed his girlfriend Anushkha Sharma for Team India's losses at big ticket tournaments. In 2015, he lambasted fans after they held Anushka responsible for the team's exit from ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, stating that they "should be ashamed of themselves" as "no one has won more matches" than him in the last five years.
