As the high-voltage clash between the arch-rivals, India and Pakistan is inching closer, here are all the previous faceoffs, heroes, iconic knocks and spells between the teams

In the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup, having won the toss Pakistan elected to field first. India lost the early wickets of both opening batsmen, but Robin Uthappa stood strong and accumulated 50 runs off 39 deliveries including 4 fours and 2 sixes. Also, captain MS Dhoni smashed 33 runs which took the side to 141 runs. During the chase, Pakistan equalled the score with Misbah-ul-Haq scoring 53 runs. The match ended in a tie

In the T20 World Cup 2007, the arch-rivals yet again faced in the finals on September 24. With India batting first, Gautam Gambhir scored 75 runs which were laced with 8 fours and 2 sixes. Riding on Rohit Sharma's 30 runs, India managed to post 157 runs. Rohit's fiery cameo included 2 fours and 1 six which came in just 16 balls. While chasing, Misbah-ul-Haq was the only batsman to score above 40 runs. The veteran tried his best to take the team home but failed as India won the finals by 5 runs

The third match between the "Men in Blue" and the "Green Shirts" took place on September 30 in the T20 World Cup. Batting first, Pakistan was bowled out for 128 runs with Laxmipathy Balaji registering three wickets for 22 runs. Star batsman Virat Kohli single-handedly bashed the Pakistan bowlers for 78 runs guiding India to eight wicket win against their arch-rivals

On March 21, 2014, Pakistan posted a 130-run target against India in the T20 World Cup. Amit Mishra completing his four overs, picked two wickets for 22 runs. Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina contributed equally and helped Team India win by seven wickets

In World T20 2016, Pakistan was reduced to 118 runs in the 18-over match against India. The Indian bowling unit showcased exceptional skills and registered five of Pakistan's wickets. Yet again, chase-master Virat Kohli delivered a stunning show by scoring an unbeaten 55 runs. Successfully chasing the target, India won by six wickets

The Asian Giants yet again clashed on October 21, 2021. Batting first India posted 151 runs with the help of Virat Kohli (57) and Rishabh Pant's (39) knocks. Shaheen Shah Afridi bagged three wickets by conceding 31 runs. In the run chase, Pakistan's opening duo Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam scored unbeaten fifties helping the side register a solid win by 10 wickets over India

One of the most iconic T20I run chases took place on October 23, 2022, when India and Pakistan clashed against each other. The "Green Shirts" registered 159 runs against Team India with the help of Shan Masood (52) and Iftikhar Ahmed's (51*) heroic knocks. Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya claimed three wickets each for India. The run chase saw Team India lose early wickets of their opening batsmen, Virat Kohli coming in to bat at number three scored an unbeaten 82 runs. Hardik Pandya on the other hand, smashed 40 runs in 37 balls. Despite losing the wickets, Kohli taking India to a historic win is etched in the history books of the T20I chases. The "Men in Blue" won the match by 4 wickets against Pakistan
