Sixth week of IPL in nutshell: Rohit's lean patch to Jaiswal's fastest IPL fifty

After 56 games over the past 52 days, Gujarat Titans are seated atop the table with Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals trailing them at second and third respectively. Mumbai Indians, though carrying 12 points from 11 matches, slipped to the third spot owing to Royals' better run rate. While Lucknow Super Giants are well ahead in the race with 11 points, the battle for the fourth spot continues to intensify with three teams sharing ten points, i.e., Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Punjab Kings. Samad, 21, has been with SRH since the 2020 season but has given them little return on investment. However, he repaid the faith on Sunday night with a seven-ball 17 in SRH’s chase of 215. SRH needed four runs off the final ball of the game and Samad smashed Sandeep Sharma for a straight six, having being caught off a no ball the previous delivery.

Mumbai Indians have played 11 matches in the IPL so far, and Rohit's batting form has been a mixed one, having scored 191 runs from those games with only one half-century at an alarming average of 17.36. Ducks in the last three games and just 13 runs across the previous three matches certainly don’t paint a rosy picture.

Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his sensational run in the IPL by smashing the fastest fifty in tournament history as Rajasthan Royals cruised to a nine-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders to resurrect their playoff hopes on Thursday. With the modest chase of 150, Jaiswal remained two runs shy of a century (98 from 47 balls), a knock studded with 12 fours and five sixes as RR cantered to victory in 13.1 overs.

Though Mumbai Indians should be concerned about their death overs bowling, having conceded four consecutive totals in excess of 200 while bowling first, the side have held themselves together to successfully chase any 200+ runs on board.

Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his sensational run in the IPL by smashing the fastest fifty in tournament history after Yuzvendra Chahal became the all-time leading wicket-taker as Rajasthan Royals cruised to a nine-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders to resurrect their playoff hopes on Thursday. The win with 41 balls to spare was a big dent in KKR's playoff hopes after the side slipped to the seventh spot.
