Roger Federer (Tennis)
The Swiss ace who has won 20 Grand Slams, announced in September 2022 that he will be retire from the sport after participating in the ongoing Laver Cup. Federer, who was carrying a bad knee injury, has not played since the 2021 Wimbledon quarter-finals.

Robin Uthappa (Cricket)

Serena Williams (Tennis)
The 23-time Grand Slam title winner, and six-time champion at US Open, too has announced her retirement from the sport. Serena lost her third round clash 7-5, 6-7 (4/7), 6-1 to Australia's Ajla Tomljanovic and thus brought curtains on what was a glittering career in the world of tennis.

Suresh Raina (Cricket)
After having a swashbuckling career in the game of cricket, southpaw Suresh Raina announced in September his retirement from all forms of cricket. After turning out for his beloved Chennai Super Kings, the blistering batter was not retained by the Chennai outfit and went unsold in the IPL 2022 mega auction earlier this year.

Mithali Raj (Cricket)
Former India Women's captain Mithali Raj too announced her retirement from cricket this year when she announced it via her social media handle. 

Carlos Tevez (Football)
Former Manchester United and City footballer Carlos Tevez announced his retirement from football following the death of his father due to COVID-19. The Argentine who also represented the likes of Juventus and West Ham United FC, was plying his trade with Boca Juniors at the age of 38.
