Ravindra Jadeja: Know more about the man who is called 'Sir'

Ravindra Jadeja's father Anirudh always wanted him to join the Army but his passion lied in cricket. His mother Lata passed away in an accident in 2005. He also has a sister who is a nurse.

It was after the ICC World T20 in 2009, when cricket portals and social media began calling Jadeja as 'Sir Ravindra Jadeja' which ended up going viral. Jadeja's CSK teammates MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and R Ashwin would often share jokes and sarcastic lines on Jadeja on Twitter. Ravindra Jadeja, however, stated in 2013, that he does not mind the nickname since it was a joke and everyone liked it.

When Ravindra Jadeja was not part of Team India's squad against Australia in September 2017, he posted a cryptic photo on Instagram. He captioned it: Had a really great 'Night Out' last night, according to my police report.#rajputboy.' The post surely left most of his fans confused.

Ravindra Jadeja and Riva Solanki were married in the traditional 'Kshatriya' style at Rajkot in June 2016. Ravindra Jadeja's marriage celebrations in Rajkot were embroiled in controversy after there were reports of some celebratory gunshots being fired during the wedding procession.

In June 2017, Ravindra Jadeja and his wife Riva Solanki had a daughter and named her Nidhyana.

Ravindra Jadeja made his ODI debut in February 2009. Jadeja has played 165 matches and scored 2,296 runs with 187 wickets under his belt. He has 12 fifties in ODIs and his best bowling figures are 5/36.

Ravindra Jadeja made his T20I debut as well in February 2009. The all-rounder played 49 matches scoring 173 runs and taking 39 wickets.

Ravindra Jadeja made his Test debut in December 2012. He has played 49 matches scoring 1,869 runs and taking 213 wickets. Jadeja has scored 1 hundred and 14 fifties in Tests and his best bowling figures are 7/48.

Since his debut in the first IPL season in 2008, Ravindra Jadeja has gone on to play for various franchises such as Rajasthan Royals, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Gujarat Lions  and Chennai Super Kings.

Ravindra Jadeja has played a total of 184 IPL matches and has scored 2,159 runs averaging at 25.40 with just 1 fifty which came in IPL 2020. Jadeja has also taken 114 wickets with best figures of 5/16.

Ravindra Jadeja has a lot of love for horses and spends most of his time with them at his farmhouse.
