Sanju Samson was born in Kerala to Lijy and Samson. His father Samson a former police constable in Delhi Police played a key role in shaping up Sanju's cricket career.

Sanju Samson represents Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as a wicket-keeper batsman.

Sanju Samson started his IPL career in 2013 when he was purchased by Rajasthan Royals. He won the best young player award for a stellar season in his debut season.

Sanju Samson played for the Rajasthan Royals until 2015 and during that time he played 38 matches scoring 749 runs.

In the 2016 IPL auctions, Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) bagged Sanju Samson for a massive Rs. 4.2 crore fee.

For Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Sanju Samson played 28 matches and scored 407 runs.

In the 2018 IPL auctions, Sanju Samson was once again bought by his first franchise Rajasthan Royals for a huge sum of Rs. 8 crore.

In 2018, Sanju Samson played 15 matches scoring 441 runs at an average of 31.50.

Sanju Samson signalled his presence in IPL 2019 by scoring the first century in the tournament. Samson smashed an unbeaten 102 in 55 balls, helping Rajasthan Royals notch up a win against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
