In the Test match against England at Old Trafford, Manchester, batting first England registered 519 runs. Debutant Anil Kumble and veteran Narendra Hirwani claimed three and four wickets, respectively

In India's first innings, they managed to score 432 runs. Facing 136 deliveries, young Sachin Tendulkar accumulated 68 runs including 8 fours in his innings

In reply, the English team declared after scoring 320 runs. This time, Kapil Dev bagged two wickets for 69 runs in 22 overs

While chasing a humongous target of 321 runs, the little master Sachin Tendulkar played an unbeaten knock of 119 runs with a strike rate of 62.96. His maiden international century came in 189 deliveries which saw him hit 17 fours. The match ended in a draw and Tendulkar was named as the "Player of the Match"

Interestingly, Sachin Tendulkar was just 17-year-old when he achieved this feat
