Mohammed Siraj: The son of an auto-rickshaw driver who became an IPL star

Mohammed Siraj, a fast bowler who has played for the Indian crickete team, was born in Hyderabad on March 13, 1994.

Mohammed Siraj's father Mohammed Ghaus was an auto-rickshaw driver while his mother, a housewife.

Mohammed Siraj's father drove an auto-rickshaw for 30 years and underwent many hardships to see Siraj pursue his dream.

It was at the age of 7 that Mohammed Siraj realised his passion for the game and began playing. However, it was not until 2015, that Mohammed Siraj first bowled with a cricket ball.

Mohammed Siraj made created history during the RCB vs KKR match on October 21, 2020 when he took 3 wickets for 8 runs. Siraj bowled two consecutive maiden overs and became the first-ever bowler to do so in the history of IPL.

Mohammed Siraj made his first-class debut in 2015 and has played 51 matches taking 190 wickets and scoring 387 runs. Siraj's best bowling figures are a stunning 8/59.

Mohammed Siraj also played a total of 49 List A cricket matches taking 86 wickets with best figures of 5/37.

In February 2017, Mohammed Siraj was purchased by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 2.6 crore.

In his debut IPL season in 2017, Mohammed Siraj impressed SRH with 10 wickets in 6 matches he played with figures of 4/32 - his all-time IPL best.

The following year in January, Mohammed Siraj was purchased by VIrat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore and has not looked back since.

For Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mohammed Siraj has taken 11 wickets in three different seasons (2018, 2020, 2021).

During the 2017-18 Vijay Hazare Tropy, Mohammed Siraj was the leading wicket-taker with 23 wickets in 7 matches.

Mohammed Siraj has played 12 Tests with 36 wickets under his belt at an economy rate of 3.09 and an average of 29.63. Siraj's best figures in an innings are 5/73.

Mohammed Siraj has so far played only 4 ODIs for team India with 5 wickets to his name.

Mohammed Siraj made his T20I debut in March 2018 and played 5 matches since, taking 5 wickets.

In his IPL career, Mohammed Siraj has played 50 matches with an impressive total of 50 wickets at an average of 28.74 and an economy rate of 8.38. His best bowling figures remains 4/32.
