IND vs WI: Most memorable ODIs between India and West Indies over the years

India laid the foundations for a second successive win in the Caribbean with a solid first innings, highlighted by some strong showings at the top of the order. They will now turn their attention towards white-ball cricket as they prepare to face the Windies in a three-match ODI series. This series will bear great significance as it marks the start of India's preparation for the 2023 ODI World Cup, with just about two months left for the marquee event. (Pic: AFP)

The Hero Cup final in 1997 hogged the limelight after Vinod Kambli's 68 and Mohammed Azharuddin's 38 powered India to 225 for seven. India ultimately won by 102 runs

The 1987 1st ODI in Nagpur was a nightmare for Indian batting order. West Indies' Patrick Patterson sent the hosts scurrying for cover as India failed to chase down a 204-run target and were bowled out for 193 runs in 44.4 overs.

Better known as the 'revenge series' after Windies' loss to India at the 1983 World Cup final, there was no stopping the power-hitter Viv Richards during the fourth ODI in Jamshedpur. Even Sunil Gavaskar's 83 couldn't take India anywhere near the target as Men in Blue eventually lost by 104 runs

The 4th ODI in Indore in 2011 is best remembered for Virender Sehwag's brilliance with the willow as he became the second batsman after Sachin Tendulkar to hit a double century in ODIs. India ultimately won by 153 runs.

India failed to chase down a 197-run target during the 8th ODI of Nehru Cup in 1989. Richards' 6/41 saw India being bundled out for 176, enabling the visitors to register a 20-run victory.
