Sri Lanka and South Africa's match was played in Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Dasun Shanaka won the toss and elected to bowl first against Bavuma's South Africa

Quinton de Kock and skipper Temba Bavuma opened the innings for South Africa. With the fall of the early wicket of Bavuma, Rassie van der Dussen came to bat at no.3. Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen both played a fabulous innings of 100 runs in 84 balls and 108 runs in 110 balls, respectively

After the fall of the wicket of de Kock, Aiden Markram came in at no.4. Markram smashed 106 runs in just 54 balls including 14 fours and 3 sixes against Sri Lanka. Aiden Markram registered his name in the list of the fastest World Cup century in history which came in just 49 balls

With the completion of Markram's century, South Africa's Quinton de Kock, Rassie van der Dussen and Aiden Markram together became the first three batters to hit 3 centuries in a single World Cup inning

With the contribution of three centurions and David Miller's and Heinrich Klaasen's quick-fire innings, South Africa surpassed Australia's record of 417 for 5 against Afghanistan. South Africans scored a total of 428 runs for 5 wickets against Sri Lanka
