The clash between New Zealand and Afghanistan will be played in Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium. So far, the New Zealand cricket team was captained by Tom Latham in two matches and by Kane Williamson in one match. Hashmatullah Shahidi will continue to lead Afghanistan in the ICC World Cup 2023

Tom Latham led the New Zealand cricket team in the absence of Kane Williamson in the first two ICC World Cup 2023 matches. Kane Williamson made a comeback in the third match of New Zealand against Bangladesh and was captaining the side. But after getting healed from his previous injury, now Williamson is suffering from a thumb injury. He has been declared out of New Zealand's further three matches including Afghanistan's clash. Latham will likely be back in the captain's seat as Williamson will not be there to lead the team

Both teams have faced each other in two ODIs out of which New Zealand have won both two whereas Afghanistan have won zero matches against the Kiwis in ODIs. Other than World Cups, both teams didn't face each other in any other ODI matches

New Zealand has played three matches in the ICC World Cup 2023 so far and has won all three of them. New Zealand will head into the games with a positive mindset and will look to continue their streak to be the table toppers. Afghanistan won their first match against England in the tournament out of three matches they have played. Afghanistan will be all boosted up with their previous match-winning performance

Devon Conway is in incredible form and has been a consistent run scorer for the Kiwis in the ICC World Cup 2023. He will be eyed by many people during the clash and New Zealand will rely on him to get off them with a good start in the match

Rashid Khan made a big contribution in Afghanistan's previous match. He struck three wickets against the England team including the wickets of Liam Livingstone, Chris Woakes and Adil Rashid. Afghanistan will keep expectations from their mystery spinner to bowl the same magical balls which will lead them to their second win in the tournament

Afghanistan's Hashmatullah Shahidi is ready to face their new challenge against New Zealand in the ICC World Cup 2023. Who will take the place of Kane Williamson in New Zealand's side will be a point to watch
