Debuting for India on November 6, 2013, in Test cricket, Mohammed Shami attained a rare feat. In his debut match against West Indies at the Eden Gardens, the Indian claimed five wickets by conceding 47 runs. He is the only third speedster to achieve this feat

So far, Shami has featured in 18 ODI World Cup matches for India in which he has snapped 55 wickets. He is the fifth-highest wicket-taker in the tournament's history and the country's leading wicket-taker

In the ODI World Cups, the Uttar Pradesh-born cricketer is only the second pacer to register a hat-trick for India. In the 2019 World Cup, Shami registered a hat-trick against Afghanistan. The first Indian to do so is Chetan Sharma

In the ODI World Cup 2023 match against New Zealand, Mohammed Shami bagged his 50th wicket. With this, he became the fastest player to complete 50 wickets in the ODI World Cups. He achieved this feat in just 17 innings. His spell of 7/57 against the Kiwis in that match also remains the best spell by an Indian bowler in the 50-over World Cup and in ODIs too

Shami also holds the record for the most five-wicket hail in the 50-over World Cup. So far, he has four 5-wicket hauls out of which, three he claimed in the 2023 edition. Team India's star pacer finished the tournament as the highest wicket-taker with 24 scalps in seven matches

Mohammed Shami is also the country's fastest bowler to complete 100 ODI wickets, having reached the feat in just 56 matches
