In the need to confirm their position for the playoffs, Chennai Super Kings will take on Rajasthan Royals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium at 3.30 PM
CSK are currently fourth in the standings with 12 points from as many games, but the defeat against Gujarat Titans on Friday has added pressure on them
RR, on the other hand, are second with 16 points, but they are smarting from two successive defeats against Sunrisers Hyderabad, which was by just a run, and Delhi Capitals
Previously, both teams have faced each other in 28 matches out of which Chennai have won 15 matches and Rajasthan has come victorious on 13 occasions
With 16 points, Sanju Samson's RR will not face any difficulties with the qualifications, but will be eager to secure wins to enter the playoffs
One of the important things for CSK that went wrong was the failure of their top order consisting of Ajinkya Rahane, Rachin Ravindra and skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and they would be desperate to regain the momentum in Chennai
Rachin Ravindra might get another chance for the match against Rajasthan Royals which could be a do-or-die chance for him
Shivam Dube, who has been CSK’s standout performer this season, has gone silent ever since he was selected to the Indian team for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024
Matheesha Pathirana and Deepak Chahar will continue to miss out with hamstring injuries while Mustafizur Rahman has returned home for national team duties
Ruturaj Gaikwad has pretty good numbers in the MA Chidambaram Stadium. His past scores at the venue are unbeaten 67 and 108 runs, 98 and 62 runs
Sanju Samson is just 14 runs away from registering his highest-ever tally in an IPL season. In 2021, he scored 484 runs and currently, he is on 471 runs
Also, people will keep tabs on RR opening batsman Yasasvi Jaiswal to get them a blistering start. The left-hander has already registered a century in the IPL 2024
Riyan Parag will be a player to watch out for as the right-hander has been consistently scoring runs for Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing edition.
