Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi

In the fourth Test match between India and England at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi, Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi smashed a double hundred in India's second innings. He played a knock of 203 runs in 430 deliveries. During his knock, he bashed the English bowlers for 23 fours and 2 sixes. With this, Pataudi became the first ever Indian captain to score a double century in the longest format of the game

Sunil Gavaskar

Coming second on the list is India legend Sunil Gavaskar. Captaining India in a test match against West Indies at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Gavaskar scored a double hundred in the first innings. He smashed 205 runs in 342 balls. His innings was laced with 29 fours and 2 sixes

Sachin Tendulkar

The great Sachin Tendulkar has registered six double hundreds in his entire test career out of which one came during his captaincy period. In an Ahmedabad test between India and New Zealand, Tendulkar smashed 217 runs in 344 balls including 29 fours in the first innings of the game

Mahendra Singh Dhoni

In a 2013 test match at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored 224 runs against Australia in the first innings. During his knock, he registered 24 fours and 6 sixes. With this, he became the fourth Indian captain to score a double century in test cricket

Virat Kohli

India's stalwart Virat Kohli smashed seven double hundreds as Indian captain in tests. He scored 200 against the West Indies in 2016, 211 against New Zealand in 2016, 235 against England in 2016 and 204 against Bangladesh in 2017. In 2017 he scored 213 and 243 against Sri Lanka and in 2019 he registered his seventh double ton against South Africa in test cricket
