Former India cricketer Anshuman Gaekwad, 71, passed away on Wednesday after a long battle with blood cancer

Following the scenario, the "Men in Blue" wore black armbands in their first One-Day International match against Sri Lanka

In the match, India all-rounder Shivam Dube dismissed Sri Lanka's wicketkeeper-batsman Kusal Mendis for 14 runs. With this, the all-rounder registered his maiden ODI wicket

Also, the match has marked the return of stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. They have made their first appearances on the field after the T20 World Cup 2024

Pathum Nissanka scored 56 runs off 75 deliveries which was laced with 9 fours. The India vs Sri Lanka first ODI is underway at the R. Premadasa Stadium. Earlier Suryakumar Yadav-led India won the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka
