In the first ODI, India's young pace bowler Arshdeep Singh displayed his exceptional skills with the bowl. Singh in his 10-over spell bagged five wickets against South Africa by conceding just 37 runs. He also became the first Indian pacer to register a five-wicket haul against the Proteas in an ODI
Avesh Khan
As Arshdeep Singh was troubling the South African batsmen from one end, Avesh Khan shouldered Singh from the other end and continued dismissing Proteas batters at regular intervals. Khan picked four wickets by conceding 27 runs in his eight-over spell
Sai Sudharsan
India's left-handed batsman Sai Sudharshan who was playing his debut match delivered a stunning performance on the big stage. Sudharshan played an unbeaten knock of 55 runs in just 43 deliveries. His innings was laced with nine fours. The left-hander also joined the list of KL Rahul, Robin Uthappa and Faiz Fazal to score 50+ score on a debut
Shreyas Iyer
Accompanying Sai Sudharshan was Mumbai-born Shreyas Iyer who scored 52 runs in 45 balls. He smashed 6 fours and 1 six in his knock. The right and left-hand duo made the match one-sided for India. Shreyas's straight drive displayed his confidence during the match. He played a pivotal role in guiding India to win over South Africa in the first ODI at DP World Wanderers Stadium
