During the fifth test match against England, India's opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 57 runs in the first innings. With this, he became the third Indian batsman to complete 1,000 runs in a World Test Championship cycle. So far, the right-hander has 1,028 runs in the WTC 2023-25 cycle

With this knock, Jaiswal also became the first-ever batsman to complete 1,000 runs in the World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle. He achieved the feat in just nine test matches including 3 hundreds and 4 fifties

Previously, Ajinkya Rahane achieved the feat during the WTC 2019-21 cycle. In that year, Rahane accumulated 1,159 runs in 18 matches played for India. He also had 3 centuries and 6 fifties

In the same WTC cycle where Rahane completed 1,000 runs, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma also attained the milestone. He scored 1,094 runs in 12 matches including 4 centuries and 2 fifties

India's sensational opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal will now eye the test record of legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar for most runs in a single test series. Gavaskar has 732 runs in a series against West Indies. The Indian legend also has 774 runs in another test series against West Indies. Currently, Jaiswal has scored  712 runs in the ongoing series against England with one more innings left to be played
