The first World Cup final between the West Indies and Australia was won by the mighty West Indies team in 1975. West Indies captain Clive Lloyd was the Man of the Match for his 102 runs inning. A total of 291 runs was put for Australia. Australian skipper Ian Chappel smashed 62 runs, but couldn't take his team to lift the cup

In the 1983 World Cup, one match was not telecasted on TV in which Kapil Dev made a record by scoring 175 runs against Zimbabwe. There was no BBC strike, but on that day four matches were played and India's match against Zimbabwe was not as important as India didn't have a good World Cup campaign. Early wickets of the Indian team made Kapil Dev stand on the crease for a long time. He played 175 not out in just 138 deliveries

The Finals of the 1983 World Cup: India won its first World Cup under the captaincy of Kapil Dev. There are many heroes behind this win for India out of which K. Srikanth scored 38 runs, M. Amarnath smashed 26 runs and Sandeep Patil scored 27 runs. Mohinder Amarnath was the Man of the Match for his inning with the bat and bowling out 3 West Indies players for 12 runs

The famous 'Dhoni finishes off in style' is from the 2011 World Cup final between India and Sri Lanka. In this match, Sri Lanka set a target of 274 runs for India. With early wickets of Indian openers, Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli kept the scoreboard moving. After the dismissal of Gambhir and Kohli, Yuvraj Singh and M.S. Dhoni took the responsibility on their shoulders to lead India win the World Cup. Dhoni finished India's run chase with a six and helped India to win its second World Cup under his captaincy

The 2019 ODI World Cup final match between England and New Zealand ended on a thriller note. The match was tied between both teams. The winner was to be decided on the basis of a super over in which Jos Buttler at last ran out Martin Guptill. Even the super over was tied and England won on the number of boundary count
