Pragyan Ojha was born in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. He moved to Hyderabad at the age of 13 and then resided there with his family.

On 16 May 2010, he got married to Karabee who was pursuing Ph.D in Biochemistry at University of Hyderabad.

In October 2019, Pragyan Ojha and his wife Karabee were blessed with their first child- a baby boy. Karabee’s pregnancy was reported earlier in October and the couple had shared family pictures celebrating the development. Pragyan shared a picture of the couple holding their baby boy and announced the name - Yohaan Yugant Ojha.

Pragyan Ojha's parents are Maheswar Ojha (retired State Govt. Officer) and Bidulata Ojha (M.A in Literature).

Pragyan Ojha's wife Karabee Baral is the daughter of Kailash Chandra Baral and Chanchala Naik, who are both professors at English and Foreign Languages University.
