Ganguly made his international debut in an ODI against the West Indies in 1992. His Test debut came against England at Lord's in 1996

Ganguly played a total of 424 international matches for India. He averaged 42.17 in Tests and 41.02 in ODI cricket. Overall, he scored over 18000 runs in his international career

The man who was affectionately known as 'Dada', also played in the IPL for the likes of Kolkata Knight Riders and Pune Warriors India

Sourav Ganguly finally called time on his playing career in 2008, in a Test match against Australia

Ganguly's last IPL match came in 2012 for Pune Warriors India. Coincidentally, the match came against his former side, KKR

Since his retirement, Ganguly has remained actively involved in the game with stints as a commentator and pundit

He also became the BCCI president in 2019, a role that he continues to be in-charge of to this day

Ganguly is married to Dona Ganguly and the pair have a daughter named Sana

In January of 2021, Ganguly had suffered a mild heart-attack but luckily it wasn't too serious and recovered from it soon thereafter

Ganguly was rumoured to be on the verge of joining Indian political party BJP after hosting Amit Shah at his residence
