Though many cricketers are still associated with the game in some way or the other even after retirement, there are others who have taken up drastically different professions. However, in 2014, reports surfaced that he ended up driving trucks around as well as cleaning bus stands. In May 2020, after being out of the public eye for 5 years since 2015, it was announced that Cairns was back in business as chief executive of a virtual sports company called SmartSportz.

EWEN CHATFIELD: Former New Zealand cricketer Ewen Chatfield retired from the game back in 1989. During his career, he played 43 Tests with 123 wickets and 114 ODIs with 140 wickets. Chatfield currently has been working as a taxi driver in Wellington since 2009. Prior to that, he tackled various jovs - coaching, working in a chip shop and courier van driver for a dairy.
