Murali Karthik is a former Indian cricketer who played for the national team between 2000-2007
Murali Karthik was born on Sept 11, 1976. During his younger years, Karthik wanted to pursue genetic engineering.
Karthik started off as a medium pacer, but went on to become a finger spinner later in his career.
Murali Karthik is known to be a specialist in slow left arm orthodox. However, due to veteran spinners such as Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh, Karthik did not have a fixed spot as a spinner in the Indian team.
Murali Kartik made his Test debut on February 24, 2000 during a match against South Africa.
Murali Kartik played his final Test match in November 2004.
Murali Karthik made his ODI debut on March 16, 2002, against Zimbabwe.
Murali Karthik has played 8 Test matches and 37 ODIs. His highest scores are 43 and 32* respectively.
He never managed to score a half-century at an international level but has done so at domestic cricket. He has scored 19 half-centuries in first-class cricket.
Murali Karthik has played for various IPL clubs such as Kolkata Knight Riders, Pune Warriors India, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab as well as other domestic teams such as Railways, Lancashire, Somerset and Middlesex
Murali Karthik has taken 24 wickets in his Test career and 37 wickets in his ODI career.
