Chris Gayle holds the record for scoring most runs in an innings in the league. He scored 175 runs off 66 balls against Pune Warriors while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2013 season.
Brendon McCullum smacked 158 runs off 73 balls in the first match of the inaugural season of IPL. He played this knock against Royal Challengers Bangalore while playing for Kolkata Knight Riders. Kolkata won this match very comfortably by a big margin of 140 runs.
