Former Mumbai cricket captain, Test batsman Madhav Apte passed in the morning on September 23, 2019, a few days away from his 87th birthday on October 5.
In the seven Test matches that Madhav Apte played for India in 1952-53, he averaged 49.27. The highlight of Madhav Apte's carreer would be the unbeaten 163 he scored against West Indies in Port of Spain which saved the match.

Apte played first class cricket for 17 years from 1951-52 to 1967-68. Apte played in in 67 matches in which he amassed a total of 3,336 runs with six centuries and 16 fifties.
