Indian pacer Praveen Kumar, who found himself in various controversies, celebrates his birthday today. We look at instances when Indian cricketers made news for the wrong reasons

Praveen Kumar: The medium pacer has had his fair short of controversies in recent years. He allegedly thrashed a doctor in Meerut in 2008, and on more than one occasion, he has picked up fights with spectators. Things got worse earlier this year when he head-butted a player during a corporate match. The umpires standing in that game declared him mentally unfit to play. Such idiosyncrasies have played their part in him being kept out of the national side

S. Sreesanth: The undisputed king of controversies, the temperamental pacer was involved in a mid-air fracas in 2014. A co-passenger on a Bangalore-Delhi flight alleged that the cricketer had indulged in 'boorish behaviour' on board the aircraft. The co-passenger, T R Ravichandran alleged that Sreesanth got into a 'childish argument' with flight attendants when he was asked not to sit near the emergency exit. Sreesanth denied the charges

Virat Kohli: In 2015, India's star batsman and current skipper abused an Indian journalist in Perth during the ICC World Cup. Kohli was apparently upset ove a report about him and girlfriend Anushka Sharma in a national daily. Kohli went on to hurl abuses at the journalist in Hindi and Punjabi and threatened him with dire consequences. However, it was later revealed that Kohli has mistaken him for another reporter of a different national daily. Kohli realised his fault and sent an apology across through another journalist.

Virender Sehwag: India skipper Dhoni and Sehwag's tumultuous relationship took a new turn last year when Sehwag stated that MSD's captaincy alone didn't win the World Cup for India. Responding to a question on what he felt about Dhoni's captaincy, the Delhi batsman said, 'Ã, know what others feel but by the time, Dhoni took over, we already had a very strong team. So his captaincy alone did not win the World Cup for India.
