Ravichandran Ashwin celebrates with his teammates after taking SA opener Hashim Amla's (right) wicket in Friday's World T20 semis

The former wicketkeeper-batsman, known for his explosive stroke play, has hailed Ashwin's delivery as the "Twenty20 ball of the century."

Gilchrist tweeted after seeing Ashwin delivery to Amla that pitched outside the leg-stump and spun sharply to clip the top of off-stump. Ashwin's ball evoked comparison to Shane Warne's 'ball of the century' to England batsman Mike Gatting during the 1993 Ashes series.

The Chennai spinner picked up other vital wickets of SA skipper Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers to finish with three for 22 in his four overs.

However, the star of the match turned out to be Virat Kohli, who smashed a magnificent unbeaten 72 to successfully chase 173-run target to enter the final.
