India Test skipper Virat Kohli and West Indian all-rounder Chris Gayle were among the few cricketers who received a higher actual salary according to the salary details of the retained IPL players listed by BCCI
From now on, one need not wonder how much the likes of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle, Rohit Sharma make from the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) yesterday delivered on the promise it had made on December 15 of revealing the âon paper' IPL salaries of the cricketing superstars.
The BCCI website listed the details of IPL franchisees' salary purse deduction and actual salary of the 22 retained players.

While India's Test skipper Kohli's actual salary is R15 crore, the Royal Challengers Bangalore's purse deduction is R12.5 crore. The flamboyant batsman is the highest paid IPL cricketer.

Kohli, in fact, pips India's limited overs captain Dhoni, who was believed to be the highest paid cricketer in the IPL.
Dhoni's actual salary is R12.5 crore - the same amount he was bought by the Pune franchisee in the IPL draft.

South African superstar and heartthrob of many Indians, De Villiers' actual salary (R9.5 crore) is equivalent to the RCB's purse deduction. Gayle's actual salary is R8.4 crore while RCB's purse deduction is R7.5 crore. Gayle was signed by RCB as a replacement for injured Dirk Nannes in 2011.

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma's actual salary is R11.5 crore whereas the team's purse deduction is R12.5 crore.
Although MI's purse deduction for Kieron Pollard, Lasith Malinga, Harbhajan Singh and Ambati Rayudu is R9.5 crore, R7.5 crore, R5.5 crore and R4 crore respectively, their actual salaries are R9.7 crore, R8.1 crore, R8 crore and R6 crore respectively.

Meanwhile, Suresh Raina, who was Team Rajkot's first buy at R12.5 crore in the IPL player draft in December, will only be paid his actual salary that is R9.5 crore.
