Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) skipper Eoin Morgan has hailed spinners Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine as the team's big impact players at this IPL.
Thanks to some disciplined bowling by Chakravarthy, pacers Tim Southee and Shivam Mavi (all took two wickets each) and a miserly four overs by Narine, conceding just 12 runs, KKR restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to just 115-8 in the allotted 20 overs in Dubai on Sunday. In reply, KKR opener Shubman Gill's 51-ball 57 (10x4) saw them emerge victors by six wickets with two balls to spare.
"I think they [Chakravarthy and Narine] are the two big impact players for us. In any condition, we are very lucky to have these two mystery spinners, particularly Narine. He has been a huge part of the franchise for a long time, an integral part of KKR's success. In each game, you have to look at where they can have the biggest impact and then try to get them in that position in that game," Morgan said during the post-match virtual press conference.
Chakravarthy is KKR's highest wicket-taker (15 wickets from 13 games) this season, while Narine has 10 from 10. After 13 matches KKR are placed fourth with 12 points and face Rajasthan Royals in their last league game on Thursday in Sharjah.
