With Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant sidelined after a horrific accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway last year, Sarfaraz Khan is being looked at as a wicketkeeping option as well as plugging the middle order hole created by Pant's absence.
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly, who has rejoined DC as mentor, told mid-day last month that the franchise is looking at Sarfaraz, Axar Patel and Manish Pandey as the team's finishers. Having scored plenty of runs on the domestic circuit, Sarfaraz will be hoping to show his T20 prowess in the IPL. He has already joined the team's camp in Kolkata, where Ganguly is in the thick of activity. Ganguly had the knack of backing the right talent as captain of India and Sarfaraz could well be the lad whom he is banking on to give DC that big boost in this year's IPL.
