Sanjay Manjrekar shares throwback picture of himself on Ajit Wadekar's lap

India batsman-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar tweeted this throwback picture of him sitting on Ajit Wadekar's lap, and wrote: "Look at me, thrilled to bits, sitting in the lap of the superstar Indian captain, thanks to my dad. #RIPAjitWadekar."

Ajit Wadekar made his debut in 1966 against the West Indies and went on to represent India in 37 Tests and two one-day internationals. He was one of the few cricketers to represent the country as a Test player, captain, coach and also went on to become the chairman of selectors. He was also honoured with the Padma Shri award in 1972.

He batted at number three and was considered to be one of the finest slip fielders. Ajit Wadekar also captained the Indian cricket team which won series in the West Indies and England in 1971.

Born in Bombay, Ajit Wadekar's father wished him to study Mathematics so that he could become an engineer, but Wadekar instead preferred to play cricket.
