Sanath Jayasuriya's 2nd wife files for divorce

The wife of former Sri Lankan captain and current chairman of the country's selection panel, Sanath Jayasuriya, has filed for divorce, lawyers said on Friday.


Anoma Gunathilake, the attorney for Sandra Jayasuriya said action had been filed for malicious desertion in the district court of Colombo on October 23. She said the defendant will be served notice and a hearing will be fixed thereafter.u00a0

Jayasuriya, a former national captain is currently a deputy minister in the government of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. He was elected to parliament in the April 2010 election from the southern district of Matara and was made the deputy minister of postal services earlier this month.

Sandra Jayasuriya has claimed 20 million as maintenance for each of her three children and herself, sources said. Accoring to some media reports,u00a0she has also demanded two vehicles from Jaysuriya and asked the court to make him pay for the construction of a new home.

Sandra Tania Rosemary De Silva, a former flight attendant at Sri Lankan Airlines, is the former cricketer's 2nd wife. They have a boy named Ranuka and 2 girls named Keshani and Yalindi from the marriage.

Jayasuriya's first marriage was with Sumudu Karunanayake in 1998, which lasted less than a year.u00a0
