Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar turned nostalgic at the NSCI, Worli, on Wednesday when he spoke about cricket equipment. "When I started playing cricket, there was a common kit shared among teammates. But I was super thrilled when I received my own kit which was sponsored to me. Avi Kadam [deceased club cricketer], got me in touch with Vampire and other brands like SS and SG.

My first pair of spikes [shoes] was given to me by Pravin Amre. At this stage of my life I would be failing in my duty if I do not remember the help I got as a young cricketer." Tendulkar was speaking at a function to announce his collaboration with logistics firm DP World and the ICC to distribute around 12,500 cricket kits over three to four years to cricket kids all over the world.
