New Zealand cricketer Ross Taylor celebrates his 37th birthday today. Over the past decade and a half, Taylor has cemented his place in the world of cricket and has set quite a few records as a Kiwi cricketer.

Taylor, known for his aggressive batting display, Taylor usually bats at number four. Making his ODI debut in 2006, Ross Taylor has gone on to play 232 matches and scored 8,574 runs at an average of 48.44 including 21 hundreds and 51 fifties. Taylor made his Test debut in 2007 and has appeared in 105 matches for New Zealand scoring 7,379 runs at an average of 45.83 including 19 hundreds and 34 fifties.

  5. Ross Taylor has the third-highest individual score by a New Zealand cricketer in Tests - 290 vs Australia.
  6. Ross Taylor is part Samoan. While his father is a New Zealander, his mother hails from the Samoan village of Saoluafata
  7. Ross Taylor is the second player of Samoan origin to play for New Zealand.
  8. Ross Taylor is the fourth cricketer to score an ODI century on his birthday. He did so when he scored 131 vs Pakistan on March 8, 2011 during the ICC World Cup.
