Rohit became the first batsman in the world to score two double hundreds in ODIs yesterday when he smashed a record-breaking 264 (highest ODI score) off 173 balls to help India post 404 for five in the fourth ODI against Sri Lanka.
"It is a very proud moment for the entire family. I never thought he would score a double hundred in one-day cricket for the second time," Rohit's father Gurunath told mid-day yesterday.
Sharma Sr said a grand celebration will now be planned for Rohit after the series.
"We already had a small get-together with close family and friends today. But we will have a grand party when Rohit returns," he said, adding that he liked this double century a lot more than Rohit's 209 against Australia last year.
"I don't know what score Rohit was aiming for today, but he was simply unstoppable," he said.
