Mumbai's senior team are likely to set off to Muscat this month (August 19 to September 3) for instant cricket against the Oman national cricket team as part of their preparation for the domestic season.

"We [Mumbai Cricket Association] have received an invitation from Oman Cricket. We will have an internal meeting soon and a decision will be taken accordingly. The proposal includes playing three T20s and three 50-over games against the Oman national team.

"It's a sort of preparation for them before the T20 World Cup. However, it's good exposure for the Mumbai players too before the season," said an official on Friday.

Oman is also a co-host for the ICC T20 World Cup with the United Arab Emirates, which begins on October 17.

Meanwhile, the MCA is also evaluating whether to buy the chipsets to monitor the workload management of Mumbai's players.

Each chipset is expected to cost Rs 1 lakh. Mumbai coach Amol Muzumdar has recommended the chipsets, said an MCA official.

A demonstration of how the chipsets will function was held on Thursday. Similar chipsets are used by the Indian and IPL teams.
