Jemimah Rodrigues
When Jemimah Rodrigues leapt to grab a stunning catch close to the boundary line to dismiss South Africa's top scorer Marizanne Kapp (27), the Bandra teenager's father Ivan, who was sitting right there in the stands, couldn't believe what he had witnessed.
"I was sitting exactly behind her when she took the catch. I jumped from my seat as I thought it would be impossible for her to catch it and it would go for a six. But she surprised me. She not only collected the ball neatly, but her balance was perfect too," a thrilled Ivan told mid-day from Cape Town.
Ivan thanked the team's fielding coach Biju George. "She is a good all-rounder, but Biju sir has worked really hard on her fielding. I am very proud," said Ivan, who is also her first coach. Ivan was quite pleased with Jemimah's 34-ball 44 knock on Saturday. "She played a gem of an innings today. She played a matured innings today," he signed off.
