West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph on Saturday was roped in by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for IPL 2024. He was named as the replacement player for England star pacer Mark Wood.
The 24-year-old speedster debuted during the first test against Australia in Adelaide. There he bagged five wickets for 94 runs. The interesting part of the story is during the second test, Australia's lead Mitchell Strac bowled a toe-crushing yorker to Joseph which made him retire hurt in the second innings.

That day, he limped all the way to the West Indies dugout. Despite being injured, the youngster did not take a step back and again appeared on the field the next day. The cricket world witnessed some magical spell from Joseph at the Gabba. He dismissed all the star Australian batsmen and registered seven wickets for just 68 runs to his name.

"Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) named Shamar Joseph as a replacement for pacer Mark Wood for the upcoming edition of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024," the IPL said in a statement.
"Joseph will join LSG for INR 3 Crore. The speedster was recently at the forefront during West Indies' Test win at the Gabba. He picked 7 wickets in the 2nd innings to script a historic win in Australia for West Indies."
The development could mean that Wood will not be available for the IPL 2024, though the reason is not known. He is currently with the England team which is touring India for a five-match Test series.
