Recalled England opener Haseeb Hameed scored a fighting unbeaten century to take County Select XI to 174-6 at the time of going to press, on Day Two of the warm-up match against the touring Indian Test team.
Pacers Umesh Yadav (3-22), Jasprit Bumrah (1-29), Mohammed Siraj (1-27) and Ravindra Jadeja (1-35) had a good workout. The touring Indians had reduced the home side to 44-3 in 21 overs at lunch to wrest the initiative.
Siraj, in fact, picked the wicket of India Test teammate and all-rounder Washington Sundar, who fell for one off seven balls. Earlier, the Indians' innings, which resumed at 306-9, lasted for only three overs, as the visitors folded for 311 in first essay.

Meanwhile, young fast bowler Avesh Khan's tour of England is set to end abruptly after being ruled out of the warm-up game against County XI due to a left-thumb fracture he sustained on the opening day of the match.
Avesh, the right-arm fast bowler represented the County XI side after a few of their players went on mandatory isolation for coming in contact
with COVID-19 positive people.
Opener Shubman Gill, who was earlier ruled out of the five-Test series against England with shin splints, has returned home after enjoying a break in the UK.
