Sharad Pawar and Ravi Savant
It was an eventful Saturday for the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). One of the most respected administrators in the body, former chief Sharad Pawar, had a meeting with ex-president Ravi Savant and current boss Dr Vijay Patil to sort out the controversy over the coach appointment for the Mumbai team with Vijay Hazare Trophy close at hand.
On Friday, MCA office-bearer declared Amol Muzumdar as coach while the Cricket Improvement Committee (CIC) preferred Ramesh Powar.
"The MCA overruled CIC's decision, which is not correct. It is CIC's prerogative to make all cricketing appointments. Pawar saheb agreed that only CIC's decision should be taken into account," Savant told Sunday mid-day.
Meanwhile, it is learnt Dr Patil stressed to Pawar that the MCA has already offered the job to Muzumdar.

When enquired about the next course of action with no headway yet in the coach appointment, Savant remarked: "Wait and watch."
It is learnt that the MCA bigwigs are contemplating calling a special Annual General Meeting to fix certain contentious issues.
Meanwhile, the selection committee has decided to have net sessions for 40 probables ahead of the Vijay Hazare Trophy at the BKC ground as plans to select the Mumbai team on Saturday were shelved.
