Virat Kohli & Co ensured their return to Cape Town was sweet as the visitors crushed South Africa by 124 runs to take a 3-0 lead in the six-match one-day series at Newlands last night. Spinners Kuldeep Yadav (4-23) and Yuzvendra Chahal (4-46) were at the South African throats once again and did not allow them to settle into a batting rhythm. With the exception of JP Duminy (51) who put a 78-run stand with Aiden Markram (32), no other batsman had a clue of how to deal with the turning ball.
Earlier, South Africa won the toss and put India in, in the hope of troubling the visitors' batsmen early. Rohit Sharma was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada in the first over itself but India were bolstered by a 140-run stand between skipper Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan (76). Kohli helped himself to his second century of the series.
South Africa triggered a mini collapse with India losing three wickets - Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane and Hardik Pandya. But MS Dhoni and Kohli put on 40 for the fifth wicket.
