Ashish Shelar on Monday filed his nomination for the president's post of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), which goes to the polls on October 20.
However, the biggest surprise from the Ashish Shelar group were the nominations of Jitendra Awhad, a prominent NCP leader, and Milind Narvekar, a loyalist of Uddhav Thackeray.
The last Supreme Court order has allowed politicians to contest polls in cricket bodies, which was earlier barred as per Justice Lodha Committee reforms. It is not clear for which posts Awhad and Narvekar have filed their nominations. Narvekar was governing council chairman of the Mumbai T20 League during the last regime.

Around 20 from Shelar's group have filed their nominations on Monday for multiple posts.
