The 37-year-old senior batsman had to fly home midway from the Sri Lanka tour last month after the death of his nephew Saad in India. Younis missed last two ODIs of the three-match series which Pakistan lost 1-2.
"I loved my nephew a lot. He is my brother Shaheed Khan's son. He got the best treatment in India, but destiny was not in our favour and he could not survive.
Perhaps, in Pakistan, the diagnosis for his liver transplant could not be made at an early stage. Please pray for his soul," an emotional Younis said yesterday.
The eight-year-old Saad was brought to Gurgaon's Medanta Hospital on August 18. Dr (Ms) Neelam Mohan, who treated on Saad, said: "He was brought in a very critical condition and the infection had spread to the rest of his body," she informed.
