Being the national cricket team'su00a0 captain is a coveted job. But it doesn't seem to be the case in India and Pakistan. A lot of players are declining to take up the job while many of those who have taken up the responsibility, have found it to be a crown of thorns.

Younis Khan has had a terrible time as the captain of the Pakistan team. He has been besieged with one controversy after another. The latest being allegations of match-fixing in the games against Australia and New Zealand during the Champions Trophy in South Africa. Younis finally tendered his resignation to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ejaz Butt yesterday.

Recently, Virender Sehwag also decided to step down as captain of the Delhi Daredevils team and said he did not want to be vice-captain of the Indian team. During the Sehwag episode, when MiD DAY had asked Younis for his thoughts about why captaincy was such a tough job in the sub-continent, he had remarked: "In India and Pakistan, when you become captain you make 10 friends and 100 enemies."
