In 2012, a fracas involving the Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh and security personnel after an Indian Premier League match between KKR and Mumbai Indians match resulted in the Vilasrao Deshmukh-head MCA slapping a five-year ban on Shah Rukh. But yesterday, at the fag end of the MCA managing committee meeting, it was proposed that the ban on Shah Rukh be lifted.
The topic coming up for discussion surprised the MCA managing committee members but they agreed all the same after the move was spearheaded by president Sharad Pawar and newly-elected vice-president Ashish Shelar.
"With the prior approval of our President Sharad Pawar, it was proposed by me that the ban on him be lifted and the managing committee approved it unanimously. Therefore, the ban on his entry to the Wankhede Stadium has been revoked," MCA vice president Ashish Shelar told reporters.
Let's forget it
It appears the MCA wants the issue to be forgotten. "Action had been taken against him (Shah Rukh) when required and we felt it was not good to take it any further. The whole managing committee consented on it. We felt it would not look good to bar somebody like this," Shelar added.
