Former India opener Virender Sehwag feels cricketers do not struggle as much as Indian athletes such as Olympic bronze medal-winning wrestler Sakshi Malik, sprinter Dutee Chand, rower Dattu Bhokanal and others who prepare for the 2020 Olympics.

"My struggle was nothing in comparison to them. For me, facilities were available at every corner. There are thousands of academies in Delhi. There is no struggle for us cricketers as compared to these athletes," Sehwag said when asked about his early days as a cricketer during a promotional event at a city hotel yesterday.

Virender Sehwag, who recently appeared before the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) for an interview for Team India's head coach job, refused to give out any details like whether he was told about a separate batting and bowling coach for the team during the interview.

While answering a question on the current sports scenario in the country and what measures federations need to take to brighten the scene, Sehwag said: "Funds should be distributed to the federations and it is the federations' duty to give it to the players. I think players are getting Rs 600 per day for their diet, which needs to be increased to two to three thousand. That will help athletes prepare well for Olympics."
